Great improvements on buffer clearance speed.
Both raw and jpeg on one card (Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB UHS-II):
85 raw compressed (24MB) + 85 jpeg fine (400MB), total 2.50GB in 30” till the buffer clears, including the time for the shots.
82 raw compressed (24MB) + 82 jpeg extra fine (800MB), total 2.70GB in 34” till the buffer clears, including the time for the shots.
46 raw uncompressed (46MB) + 46 jpeg extra fine (800MB), total 2.50GB in 20″ till the buffer clears, including the time for the shots.
Raw on one card (UHS-II) and jpeg on the other (Sandisk Extreme Pro 256GB UHS-I):
85 raw compressed (24MB) + 85 jpeg fine (800MB), in 30” till the buffer clears, including the time for the shots.
81 raw compressed (24MB) + 81 jpeg extra fine (800MB), in 33” till the buffer clears, including the time for the shots.
50 raw uncompressed (47MB) + 50 jpeg extra fine, in 20” till the buffer clears, including the time for the shots.
For comparison, imaging-resource wrote in their initial review of α7ΙΙΙ:
Uncompressed RAW + Large Extra Fine JPEG
30 frames total
36 seconds to clear
Compared to their review of α9:
α9
(20.00 fps)
225 frames total;
87 seconds to clear
While on my test of α7ΙΙΙ:
85 raw compressed (24MB) + 85 jpeg fine (400MB), total 2.50GB in 30”
On α9 in 98’’ in total 225 shots were taken and cleared.
87’’ for the buffer of 5.40GB to clear.
α7ΙΙΙ takes and clears 85 shots in 30’’.
21” for the buffer of 2.50GB to clear.
Another example:
α9: Uncompressed Raw 135 shots in 10”, 45” in total till the buffer clears.
α7ΙΙΙ: Uncompressed Raw 54 shots in 9”, 19” in total till the buffer clears.
So 10” to clear 54 shots.
If it had 135 shots, they would clear in 25”, while α9 clears them in 35”.
